With all the lovely luscious beard being grown around Australia lately, we thought it fitting that we let you all know about what oils act as the best moisturisers to keep your beard in top condition, as well as your skin underneath.
Skinmade has a selection of organic base oils that fit the bill. The two we would recommend for use as a beard conditioner are jojoba oil and macadamia oil.
Firstly, jojoba oil is not actually an oil, it is a wax extracted from jojoba seeds. It is high in vitamins and is similar to skin sebum, so absorbs quickly and helps maintain skin pH, making it non-greasy and great for all the different skin types hiding underneath beards. Jojoba strengthens and nourishes beards, helping to prevent breakage, while leaving behind no greasy build-up. It is important to use unrefined jojoba oil on beards as refined jojoba oil is stripped of all its moisturising properties and looses its lovely nutty scent. Our Skinmade jojoba oil is sold in a 100ml glass bottle for $30 and contains 100% pure, cold pressed, certified organic jojoba (simmondsia chinensis) oil.
Macadamia oil is amazing for beards too, especially if you live in a colder climate and need an oil slightly heavier than jojoba. It has a luxurious feel to it and will penetrate your beard and skin, which softens new whisker growth and deeply nourishes.
The Skinmade Macadamia oil contains 100% pure, virgin, cold pressed, certified organic Macadamia (macadamia integrifolia) oil and is sold in a 100ml glass bottle for $16.
Both oils and more are available from our online store.
#mumsontherun is all about celebrating busy mothers who wear many hats that range from caring for their kids, to being a business women or turning their passion/hobby into a living.
Danielle, author of blog Raw + Pure chatted with us about balancing her life, work and kids…
Q1. What is your business/hobby/work and who are your kids?
I run a blog over at www.rawandpure.com.au that focuses on non-toxic living. I am also a high school teacher and most importantly a mother to our gorgeous Harrison who is one and a half.
Q2. What is your skin type and did it change after having children?
I have normal/combination skin and it has pretty much stayed the same after having my son. In fact I think it was at its best whilst pregnant minus the pigmentation of course!
Q3. What beauty routines/luxuries do you feel like are a distant memory?
Taking the time (interrupted!!) to dry body brush, do regular face masks and take relaxing, long baths!
Q4. What is your best multi tasking moment?
The other day before bathing my son I thought enough was enough- I really had to find more time to get masks on my face! I find masks really help my skin. So I got him all ready, applied my mask and let it do its thing while he played in the bath. Easy- now I need to keep doing this each week!
